PAINTING AREA

A black cutting mat with a paintbrush, a miniature astronaut figure, small containers of blue, white, beige, brown, and orange paint, a cup with some paint residue, and a blank piece of paper.

Setting up a simple area for your painting makes all the difference. It keeps things organized and clean so you can keep your focus on your latest masterpiece. You can even place everything you need on a small tray so you can store it away easily and just bring it out when needed.

Paints and Brushes

Keep the paints and brushes you need for your project at hand so you don’t have to go hunting for them in the middle of your project.

Palette

Somewhere to mix and thin down your paints. A small tile is ideal, but a metal or plastic lid, or anything similar will do just fine.

Clean water

Keep a cup of water nearby so you can keep your brush clean and add water to your paints on the palette.

Surface protector

Spills happen! Put down cutting matt or even just a large sheet of paper to avoid any major clean up.

Light

Natural light is always best, so paint near a window if you can, but otherwise a good desk lamp will do. Your eyes will thank you!
